Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has revealed that his move to Saudi Arabia was motivated by a desire to win trophies.

The French international left City to join Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr in January, a move that raised eyebrows around the footballing world.

In an exclusive interview, Mendy explained that he felt he needed a new challenge and the opportunity to compete for silverware was too good to turn down.

“I have won titles in England with Manchester City, but I wanted to experience a different footballing culture and challenge myself in a new environment,” Mendy said.

“I have always been motivated by a desire to win trophies, and I believe that Al Nassr can offer me the chance to add more medals to my collection.”

Despite facing criticism for leaving a top European club to move to the Middle East, Mendy is confident that he made the right decision.

“I understand that some people may question my move, but I am focused on proving myself and helping Al Nassr achieve success,” Mendy added.

The 27-year-old has settled in well at his new club and has already made an impact on the pitch, impressing fans and teammates alike.

“I am enjoying my time at Al Nassr and I am grateful for the warm welcome I have received from everyone at the club,” Mendy said.

“I am excited about the future and I am determined to contribute to the team’s success in any way I can.”

Despite his move to Saudi Arabia, Mendy has not ruled out a return to European football in the future.

“I am focused on the present and giving my all for Al Nassr, but who knows what the future holds,” Mendy said.
